Hand-held Radio Set MQ-536

Hand-held transmitter-receiver.

Used by the US military during WW2, designated SCR-536. Nicknamed ‘Handie-talkie’.
Used by the IDF in the War of Independence (1948) and the Sinai Campaign (1956), at platoon level, with a range of ~1,500 meters.
Frequency range 3 to 6.5 MHz, single crystal controlled channel, AM (Amplitude Modulation), 0.2 watts output power.
No On/Off switch, pulling the telescopic rod antenna operates the transceiver.
BU-37 & BU-38 battery.

Vacuum tube technology.
