Modern implementation of HF Receiver/Transmitter in a wooden suitcase, as used by the Haganah Signal Service and by the Gideonim in clandestine stations and illegal immigration vessels.
Morse code only (CW) crystal-controlled transmitter with 5 Watts power output; regenerative receiver; works in the amateur radio band 7.000 to 7.200 MHz; powered by 12 Volts DC.
Block diagram is the same as the original suitcase radio, but implementation is with transistors instead of vacuum tubes.
The replica demonstrates the capability to keep long distance communications with simple and efficient equipment.
The replica was designed as a self-build kit by a group of US amateur radio operators, called 4SQRP Group.
